Hello to everyone at Brickhill Lower School - staff, children, governors and parents. I have thought about you often during this last term, as I have gradually become accustomed to leading a more leisurely pace of life. I have missed being part of the Christmas festivities that take place in school at Christmas - the decorations, the concerts, the parties and even the Christmas disco! I hope that in the midst of all the hustle and bustle you will have time for a little stillness and quiet reflection. I wish each and every one of you a very Happy Christmas and especially a happy and healthy New Year.

We found out yesterday that our son has been given a place in reception year next September. My husband and I are over the moon as we live outside of the catchment area. We visited Brickhill Lower school in May and since then have been praying that our child gained a place. Mrs Wood is a lovely lady and gave us a wonderful tour of the school. I hope that when she reads this she'll remember us - hope you are enjoying your retirement! I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to all at Brickhill Lower and see you soon!!

Year 3 football match report Saturday 10th December. The 3rd year A & B team were in action against Castle Lower School. The A team had a cracking match with plenty of skilfull football, goals and near misses. With minutes to go it was 3-3 and most supporters were thinking that a draw was a fair result as no one deserved to lose. However Castles best player had other ideas and cut through our defense twice making it 5-3. Although we pulled a goal back and hit the crossbar with a brilliant move the final score was 5-4 to Castle. Goals Bradley Stone 2 ( that is 6 for the season) and Rhys Badman 2 ( the first was a thunderous effort which followed a dribbling run beating 3 players) The B team dominated for long periods and finally William Bates scored in the 3rd quarter. Because of the lateness of the game some of Castles players had to go so 4 A team players were used and they came back strongly to score and nearly sneaked a win with a penalty which was saved by Rhys Badman. The B team have come a long way this season and it showed in this match. Well done lads.

Sat 5th November 4th year football team vs Reynold. In a close contest Billy Saunders scored early on to put Brickhill in front but Reynold struck back with 2 quick goals to take the lead. As the game swung to and fro Billy popped up to score a second. Ib the latter stages Brickhill were awarded a penalty and Billy hoping to complete his hat trick was unfortunate to hit the cross bar which left the final score 2-2. Football Report Saturday 15th October. The 3rd year had their 1st away fixture at Oakley. The first team featured in a closely contested match being pipped 2-1 with Bradley Stone scoring. The 2nd team did not start too well but improved as each quarter was played ( they play 4 ten minute quarters) The score reflected this 4-0,1-0,0-0,0-0 so although they lost 5-0 by the time the match was half way through they were more than holding their own and were unlucky on a number of occassions not to score.

Football Match report - Saturday 8th October. The 4th year A & B teams kicked off their season with matches against Hills. In the A match It seemed as if there was a thrill a minute with some excellent play from both sides ( If only the match at Old Trafford in the afternoon was as exciting!). However Hills went ahead early on and were 3-1 up by half time. Soon after the restart it was 4-1 which was a little flattering but the lads kept going and looked like securing a 4-4 draw with a hat trick from Owen Franklin and one from Caleb Wright. However the Hills man of the match popped up with two more to make the final score 6-4 to Hills. The B team started a little nervously and were soon a goal down. However they rallied round and were soon on top with goals from Cameron Brown (penalty taken as cool as Lampard later that day) Alex Jones, Billy Saunders, Bradley Stone and Curtis Reid. Final score 5-1 to Brickhill.

Football club is back and many new members have been welcomed along on a Saturday morning for coaching. This season years 3 and 4 have teams in a local school league. Saturday 1st October saw the 3rd year A & B team entertain Bromham A & B. Both matches were very exciting and ended up with the same scoreline. The A team lost 5-3 with Bradley Stone getting a hat trick. The B team reversed the score winning 5-3 with Dominic Marino scoring a hat trick and Ryan Pearson & Thomas Mead chipping in with a goal a piece. In both matches there was a lot of excitement with the bar being rattled a number of times and lots of near misses.
Saturday 8th sees the 4th year in action.

Football Match Reports. 28th June vs Hazeldene B team. A very one sided match saw Brickhill notch up 15 goals with no reply. Goal scorers: Caleb Wright 9,Owen Franklin 3,Curtis Reed 2,Cameron Brown.
9th July saw 3 excellent matches with plenty of skill shown by all teams. Our first team played Hazeldene 1st and by half time we were 3-0 down. However we came back strongly to 4 -3 down then hit the cross bar and narrowly missed another chance before going down 5-3. Scorers Caleb Wright - only 2 this time and Ross Tuffin. The second team played Hazeldene 2nd with Hannah Badman our only female team player this year doing her bit to secure a narrow victory 2-1. A few close calls but we defended very well. Scorers Joseph Russell and Cameron Brown. Year 1 & 2 played Hills and although a 3 - 0 score line looked like a comfortable win it was a very close match. All the goals came in the first quarter ( year 1 & 2 play 4 x 10 minutes) Scorers Bradley Stone 2 and Isaac Jones with the other. Helping to secure the win was a tremendous save by Daniel Derbyshire which had all supporters clapping.
16th July saw the last match of the season and the 1st & 2nd years played Flitwick Falcons. The team carried on their good performance against Hills and came out comfortable winners 8 - 2. Scorers Bradley Stone 2, Dominoc Marino 1, Isaac Jones 1, Daniel Derbyshire 1, Rhys Badman 1 and there were 2 own goals.
Player of the year - everyone who attended regular training has improved their skills so were all winners.
Next year there will be plenty of vacancies for boys & girls to enrol. Look out for forms and dates. I am looking forward to seeing all the current 1st 2nd and 3rd year children who attended this year. It is hope that there will be a small league for local schools.

I am (Mrs) Forrest's daughter. I used to be at Brickhill so many, many years ago. I didn't realise you had a website until tonight. Tonight I watched Dispatches: Undercover teacher. That trigged a series of memories from both Grange school and Brickhill lower. So I guess I went searching on the internet for them. Brickhill Lower was a good school. The best highlight of the school was the assembly when the classes would take it turns to do a show for the rest of the school on Fridays. I think it was Fridays, I can't remember. I loved being apart of them. I remember being apart of the gymastics after school club. Anyway lovely website!!
Recently I left college (21 year old) and I'm awaiting my certificates. I'm a volunteer at Youth Action which is on the high street. But I think you already know this because no doubt my mum has told you.

May I congratulate the school in starting up a football coaching session on Saturday mornings. I went along on its opening day Saturday 6th November and what a joy it was - the coaches Simon Badman, Andrew Franklin and Alan Jones able supported by a number of parents were brilliant. Unlike coaching sessions I have seen elsewhere all the children were kept involved all the time and the drills were innovative and ideal for improving ball skills. I am sure that this is going to be another success story for Brickhill Lower and that more children especially girls - where were you?? will come along in the future. Thanks to Simon Badman and Mrs Woods for getting things going.
